| Lari Robson has been creating pottery since 1970, setting up his first studio after having trained with Wayne Ngan, Leonard Epp and Heinz Laffin at the Vancouver School of Art in the 1960’s. A student of the Leach and Hamada school, he has studied the forms and shapes of traditional Asian and European pottery for over 40 years. Lari’s work is concentrated on the Yunomi (tea bowl), Guinomi (Sake cup) and Chawan (Tea ceremony bowl) as well as carefully crafted vases, teapots and bowls for domestic use. Lari has always concentrated solely on his work and shunned self-promotion. His work is in the book Made of Clay - Ceramics of British Columbia and his pottery is in public and private collections across Canada and the United States. He lives and works on Salt Spring Island. |

| Lari Robson was born in Vancouver and hasn’t gone very far. He believes it would be a better world if radio stations only played the Stones, Elvis Costello, Dave Edmunds and Richard Thompson. Lari would prefer to be living in England or Italy in the 60’s but as neither is possible he currently lives and works at the end of a road in some out of the way place. Steadfastly steering him off the jet-set track are his three permanently mad cats, a sad-eyed dog, an impish son and a thoroughly distracted wife. His latest and most time-consuming project is creating a potter’s wheel that looks, rides and feels like a 1964 Lambretta. |
